Brainspotting Phase 1 in-person Woodland Hills, CA with Dr Pie Frey

Location

Iris Healing Center
20300 Ventura Blvd Suite 300
Woodland Hills, CA  91364
Training Overview

Brainspotting is a powerful focused treatment method that works by identifying processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms” (David Grand, Ph D.). A “Brainspot” is the eye position that is related to the energetic/emotional activation of a traumatic or emotionally charged issue within the brain. With its researched results and growing reputation for efficacy and rapid healing (thousands now trained in 30 countries), Brainspotting is quickly becoming one of the most sought after therapy treatments available today.

Learning Objectives

Through lecture, live demonstration, and practicums, participants of this introductory level course will learn to do the following:

  • Summarize the standards of care and professional practice of the International Brainspotting Association
  • Describe the hypothesized neurological underpinnings of how Brainspotting works
  • Summarize the research that supports the hypothesized way in which eye positions activate and access mid-brain activity
  • Explain the uncertainty principle as it relates to Brainspotting
  • Describe the concepts of simultaneous neurobiological and relational attunement
  • Explain the importance of client-therapist attunement during Brainspotting
  • Explain how the treatment frame is set and held by the therapist
  • Explain the role of focused mindfulness in Brainspotting
  • Discuss the similarities and differences between the activation and resource models of Brainspotting
  • Explain the concept of limbic countertransference
  • Demonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the outside window Brainspotting technique
  • Demonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the inside window Brainspotting technique
  • Demonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the gaze spot Brainspotting technique
  • Demonstrate a basic mastery of the use of the resource model Brainspotting technique
  • Assess the appropriate Brainspotting techniques for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, including the Dissociative Subtype, and other trauma-related symptoms.
  • Describe two challenges to assessing and providing evidence-based treatment to individuals with complex PTSD

We value diversity–We believe this is key to a richer and more impactful learning environment. Trainings are open to all counselors, psychologists, social workers and others in the healing professions with strong clinical backgrounds, as well as students/interns in the mental health field who seek to expand their knowledge.

There is no conflict of interest or commercial support for this program.

Training will open at 8:30am on the first day.
Training runs from 9am-6pm each day

Brainspotting Intensive Live in Broomfield, Colorado

Seminar Overview

The Brainspotting (BSP) Intensive was devised by David Grand, PhD, founder and developer of Brainspotting to provider the ultimate learning experience for BSP therapists. Registration for this event is capped at 10 participants and the schedule is five full, consecutive days.  The intensive will take place at a private residence in suburban Broomfield, Colorado. It’s west of Denver, and about 1/2 hour to Boulder and/or the foothills beyond.

There are ten experientials in the center of the group with each participant being the therapist once, and client once.  Pie will be leading and will sit next to the therapist and personally teach by guiding the therapist in the most attuned, technically advanced and innovative BSP process.  Afterwards, each session is debriefed extensively in the group, and this enhances everyone’s learning process.  In sum, the Intensive is a master class in developing skills as an advanced clinical BSP therapist. This is also a qualified path to achieving Brainspotting certification, provided the Brainspotter has 50 documented Brainspotting sessions.  Consultations are not required leading to certification in this case.

Details/Payment

Cost of intensive: $2,000.00 per person.  A first-half payment of $1,000 is due at the time of registration on the website.  The second-half, $1,000 payment, is due four weeks prior to the start of the Intensive.

Accommodation is NOT included in the cost.

Refund Policy: Full refund will be given prior to May 1 2023. After that 50% refund will be allotted.

A 100% refund as applicable if canceled prior to May 1, 2023 minus $75 administrative fee. After May 1, 2023 a 50% refund will be allotted until June 15, 2023. After June 15, 2023, if a refund is needed, attendee would be allowed to attend another intensive for up to 1 year from original date.
